Evaluation - Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

After completing my music magazine i looked back over what i did as a preliminary task (college magazine).

I realised straight away that my photo/image manipulation skills had increased massively as well as my photography. On my college magazine cover you can see that the image is slightly squashed as it was more of a landscape photo as opposed to portrait. You can also notice certain parts of the photo have extremely bright areas which before i didn't know how to fix with photoshop but now i know how to darken areas of a photo unlike before.

I also now realise there is a big issue surrounding the space in a magazine after looking at many music magazines. These college pages are both very sparse

Evaluation - Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product?

Evaluation - Question 4 & 5

Who would be the audience for your media product?

How did you attract/address your audience?

I originally did these questions as a video but the file corrupted so i figured a prezi was the next best thing.

Evaluation - Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Evaluation - Question 2

Question 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I have aimed for my product to represent “rockers” or fans of the rock/metal genre. I believe I have conveyed this in various ways. On my cover in particular I believe it shows a stereotypical member of the genre. It is a photo of a male with long dyed hair (in the form of a wig) I did this because there is a large proportion of men with long hair or at least a less normal hair cut in this social group. My second point is how he is posed/standing… he is showing some clear attitude or swagger. And it is common in the social group to have some attitude as generally they are not accepted due to them expressing them selves etc. Expressing yourself is a key feature in their social group and I think that I have achieved a replication of this in the colour scheme I chose to use… it consists of darker colours that members of the rock scene seem to wear, much like the character on my cover.

Evaluation - Question 1

In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
